Lucknow: Basti police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) on Wednesday arrested three persons for allegedly abducting and assaulting a man with the intention of murdering him.. The arrests were made during an operation on the Shaheed Smarak Road near the Futahia stretch of National Highway-27 in Basti district. The accused, identified as Aman Singh, Hari Prasad alias Ankit Singh and Harshdeep Singh, confessed that on July 19 they along with their associates abducted Balram Tripathi following a personal dispute. The accused assaulted the victim and took him to a secluded location where they allegedly planned to kill him. However, the plan was foiled after the Dial-112 emergency response team chased the suspects, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee the scene. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.Police seized Brezza (UP51 AS 0081), a black Thar without registration plate and three mobile phones from the accused. .Aman has 16 criminal cases registered against him involving offences such as attempt to murder, rioting, assault and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Harshdeep has three criminal cases registered against him, while Hari Prasad has two criminal cases..
