Lucknow: The UP STF in coordination with the Bihar Police arrested a wanted accused in a narcotics trafficking case from Gomti Nagar Extension in Lucknow on Wednesday.The accused was identified as Vikas Kumar of Motihari district in Bihar. Police said he was wanted in connection with an NDPS Act case registered in April 2026 and was on the run since then.East Champaran SP had sought assistance from UP STF to trace and arrest Vikas after efforts to locate him in Bihar did not succeed. Acting on the request, the STF sleuths initiated an intelligence-led operation under ASP Deepak Kumar Singh and developed inputs through technical surveillance and human intelligence on the accused’s movement.Officials said that an STF team received information on Wednesday that Vikas Kumar was present near Shaheed Path in Lucknow.Based on the input, teams from the Uttar Pradesh STF and Bihar Police carried out a joint raid and apprehended him from the spot without incident.During a search, police recovered Rs 10,590 in Indian currency, Nepalese currency amounting to NPR 110, and a mobile phone from his possession. The STF said that during preliminary questioning, the accused admitted involvement in the case, and further interrogation and evidence-related follow-up will be conducted by the Bihar investigating officer.Bihar Police officials said they are completing transit remand formalities to take the accused to East Champaran for further legal proceedings before the competent court.
