Lucknow: Sambhal is set for a tourism infrastructure boost, with the UP govt planning to improve facilities along the 24 Kosi Parikrama route, conserve heritage structures and develop key pilgrimage sites.The projects were discussed in detail by tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh on Thursday during a review of projects in Moradabad and Meerut divisions. In all, 49 proposals under the 2026-27 action plan for the two divisions were evaluated. Among the major proposals for Sambhal is a coordinated signage system at important tourist sites, including locations along the 24 Kosi Parikrama route, aimed at making the pilgrimage circuit easier to navigate.The culture department has also proposed conservation of an ancient baoli, while the religious affairs department reviewed the first phase of conservation at five identified tirthas in the district, including Chandra Tirth, Hans Tirth, Pishach Mochan Tirth, Kurukshetra and Naimisharanya.Other projects discussed included an eco-tourism development at Kanth in Moradabad district and the conversion of poet Dushyant Kumar’s ancestral residence in Najibabad into a museum with a public library and auditorium. Tourism projects around Garhmukteshwar in Hapur, including improvement at Brijghat and ancient temples, were also reviewed. The tourism and religious affairs proposals together carry an estimated outlay of around Rs 77 crore.Singh directed officials to complete all projects costing up to Rs 1 crore by Nov, while stressing regular field inspections, adherence to quality standards and close coordination with public representatives during implementation.
