Lucknow: The department of social welfare on Thursday signed an MoU with Piramal Foundation to strengthen its scholarship scheme, and to improve the overall functioning of the department.In the first phase, the entire process of giving scholarships will be linked with digital technology, artificial intelligence, and a modern management system.Special attention will also be given to the training and capacity development of the department’s employees. A scholarship programme management unit (PMU) will also be established.Social welfare minister Asim Arum said: “Our goal is not only to bring about technical improvement, but to ensure good governance, transparency, accountability, and the effective reach of schemes to the last person. This partnership will further strengthen the functioning of the department. Better coordination will be established at various levels, and the benefits of schemes will be able to reach eligible beneficiaries in a simpler, more transparent and timely manner.”
