Lucknow: Acting on the complaints received against the vehicle scrapping operations at Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) in the state, the transport department will conduct a special drive from July 25 till Aug 10 to examine the scrapping process at the centres.The department received several complaints that vehicle scrapping was not being conducted in accordance with the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021, nor in compliance with the orders and prescribed standards issued by the UP govt at the RVSFs.Minister of state for transport (independent charge) Dayashankar Singh ordered an inquiry into the complaints.The joint teams of divisional transport officers (administration) and motor vehicle inspectors were constituted for each division for inspections.Additional transport commissioner (revenue) RK Vishwakarma said that if any violation of rules or govt orders, or any other irregularity, is detected at any facility during the inspection, the concerned joint inspection team will submit its report, including a detailed factual account and necessary records, to the transport commissioner by Aug 11.
