Lucknow: Police have registered an FIR against a Gorakhpur resident accused of duping a nursing and paramedical college in Ambedkarnagar district of ₹31.28 lakh by posing as the registrar of the State Paramedical Faculty, Lucknow, and issuing a forged recognition certificate.The case was lodged at Ibrahimpur police station following directions from a court. The complainant, Naveen Prakash Verma, manager of Lord Buddha Nursing and Paramedical College at Meeranpur Iltifatganj, said the accused, Vinod Yadav, visited the institution in 2018 with a team, claiming to be the faculty’s registrar. He inspected the college and assured the management that recognition would be granted for courses including ANM, GNM and DPharma.According to the complaint, Yadav initially took around ₹1.5 lakh and later provided a recognition certificate. Believing the approval to be genuine, the college continued admissions and classes from 2018 to 2022. During this period, the accused allegedly collected more money for examinations and other academic processes.The college claimed that ₹29.78 lakh was transferred from its Punjab National Bank account to the accused’s Axis Bank account between Sep 2018 and Feb 2022, taking the total amount involved to ₹31.28 lakh.The fraud also affected hundreds of students whose mark sheets were later found invalid. Verification revealed that both the recognition certificate and academic records were forged. After police failed to act on earlier complaints, the college moved court, which directed registration of an FIR. Tanda circle officer, Pradeep Singh Chandel said the matter is under investigation and action will be taken based on the findings.
