Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday stressed the role of doctors and hospitals in ensuring affordable and reliable healthcare, stating that a doctor’s behaviour and the trust established with patients often help cure “half the illness” even before medicines take effect.“When a patient approaches a doctor, he does so with trust. A doctor’s behaviour can cure half the illness. The advice given by the doctor must be correct and accessible for the patient,” he said after inaugurating KDSG Super Specialty Hospital in Greater Noida. During the event, Yogi highlighted the developments in UP’s health sector. The CM underlined that until 2014, there were only six AIIMS functioning in India, and it was due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that there are currently 23 AIIMS in the country. “Under Ayushman Bharat, medical facilities are being provided to over 60 crore people. UP is the leading state in the country in this regard, where more than 5.60 crore Golden Cards, the highest in the country, were made. This created healthy competition in the health sector, a major reason behind the increase in super specialty facilities in the state,” he said. The govt simultaneously ensured that the large gap between treatment rates fixed by the govt and arbitrary rates of the private sector was balanced. Yogi said before 2017, UP was marked by ‘one district-one mafia’ and the then govts used to bow before them. “Now, UP is known for ‘One District-One Medical College’, ‘One District-One Product’ and now ‘One District-One Cuisine’,” he said. Highlighting the importance of Gautam Budh Nagar district, the CM said it became a major centre of development. “India’s largest airport was soon going to start operations at Jewar while about 55% of mobile manufacturing production in India and 60% of electronic component production took place in this district. We are also developing a Film City, Medical Device Park and Logistics Hub here. There was a time when UP was struggling for an identity, but today the same UP is moving towards becoming the growth engine for India’s economy,” he said. The KDSG Super Specialty Hospital was set up by cricketer Kapil Dev and industrialist Sunil Gupta. They will operate the hospital in collaboration with the DY Patil Group.
