Lucknow: Gusty winds followed by thunderstorms and hail may occur in some parts of the state on Saturday. In the city, sky would be mainly clear in the morning, but gradually turn partly cloudy towards afternoon or evening. Light rain along with thunder and lightning may also occur. However, the relief would be momentary. There will be no significant change in temperatures. Instead, the weather is expected to turn sultry due to moisture incursion in the atmosphere.Partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of thunderstorm are expected on Sunday as well. Gusty winds measuring between 40-50 km per hour may also lash the city during this period, said met officials.“The change in the weather conditions would be caused due to a western disturbance (WD) over Pakistan and Afghanistan and cyclonic circulation over west Uttar Pradesh,” said Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the state met department.“There are possibilities of light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail in some parts of the state on Saturday. Thundersquall accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (speed 50-60 kmph) are also likely at a few places and hail at isolated places,” he predicted. On Friday, the city woke up to cloudy sky and soothing winds, but the weather was clear by the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 35.9 degrees Celsius, 0.5 unit below normal. However, the minimum temperature was 23.4 degrees Celsius, 4.9 notches above normal, because cloudy sky did not allow ground heat to escape into the atmosphere during the night.
