Lucknow: The state cabinet approved a land allocation proposal for building an integrated public health laboratory and a critical care block with 50 to 100 beds in Lalitpur.According to the official proposal, a portion of nazul land measuring 3,250 square metres will be transferred free of cost to the medical education department for the construction of the facilities. The land is part of a larger 1.416-hectare parcel located in Lalitpur district.Officials said that the project will be implemented as part of a broader initiative to upgrade healthcare services at the district hospital and govt medical college levels.Officials said the integrated public health lab will significantly enhance disease detection, surveillance and diagnostic capabilities in the region, while the proposed critical care block will help expand capacity for treating serious and emergency cases. The development is expected to reduce the burden on higher medical centres and ensure timely access to advanced healthcare services for local residents. The land transfer will be carried out after a formal change in ownership in favour of the medical education department, subject to specified terms and conditions. Authorities have clarified that the decision has been taken as a special case and will not be treated as a precedent for similar allocations in the future.
