NEW DELHI: Delhi government is committed to taking concrete, practical steps to address the issues faced by sanitation workers, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday.According to an official statement, while interacting with representatives of the sanitation workers’ union, the chief minister directed the department concerned to review all matters raised by the union and ensure prompt action.Expressing concerns over the on-ground challenges faced by the community, the representatives from the union flagged demands of recruitment and regularisation of sanitation workers as well as workplace safety, wage-related problems and other service conditions, the statement said.They also offered suggestions to the chief minister, demanding better healthcare facilities, permanent employment and a more dignified working environment in line with the nature of their work, the statement said.
