Lucknow: State govt has launched two initiatives for the safety of schoolchildren.While a statewide fortnight-long campaign to check the fitness of school vehicles will start from Wednesday, the schools have been asked to upload the details of school vehicles on the UP Integrated School Vehicle Management Portal (UP-ISVMP), which has been launched for the first time in the state.Under the campaign, school vehicles will be checked for fitness, registration, permit, insurance, PUC and physical condition. Strict action will be taken under the MVA Act 1988 against vehicles operating without permits or violating permit conditions.The daily reports of the campaign will be updated on the QR code portal, UP-ISVMP, developed by the transport department. The portal will go live on Wednesday. It is an integrated digital platform for the safety, monitoring and legal compliance of school vehicles.The school management committees will provide details of their vehicles being used to transport children on the portal. Transport Commissioner Kinjal Singh has directed that even after the campaign ends, strict action, as per the rules, will be taken against school vehicles and their owners operating without fitness certificates or with faulty fitness certificates.
