Lucknow: To preserve and promote Uttar Pradesh’s folk and tribal heritage, UP Institute of Folk and Tribal Culture, Lucknow, signed MoU with Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut to work together in education, research, training and cultural exchange.Subharti University was represented by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Pramod Kumar Sharma, while state govt was represented by Atul Dwivedi, director of Uttar Pradesh Institute of Folk and Tribal Culture. Under the MoU, both institutions will organise joint workshops, seminars, cultural programmes and training sessions aimed at preserving and promoting folk and tribal art forms across the state.The partnership is expected to benefit artists, researchers and students while also supporting traditional artists and artisans through skill development, documentation and promotion. Officials said the initiative would help local art forms gain wider recognition at national and international levels and encourage greater participation from younger generations.The institute has entered into similar agreements with several prominent organisations and universities. Toursim and culture minister Jaiveer Singh described the agreement as important in safeguarding the state’s cultural legacy and said it would help UP’s folk and tribal traditions gain broader visibility.
