JAMMU: Security forces Friday seized 503g heroin, allegedly air-dropped from Pakistan via drone, near the international border in RS Pura sector, on the outskirts of Jammu city.The recovery came a day after a joint team of BSF and police seized 2kg heroin, worth around Rs 12 crore in the international market, in Bahadurpur village in Jammu’s Bishnah area, a few km from the Indo-Pak border.“Based on information from sources, BSF’s 165 Bn and J&K Police launched a search operation in the area between Floura and Suchetgarh, around 1km from the international border around 8.45am. The nearest border outposts are Suchetgarh and Octroi, and the opposite Pakistani post is Inayat,” an official said.Around 10.45am, the search party detected a suspicious package, wrapped in yellow plastic and black tape, in a farm belonging to a Suchetgarh resident, Aga Paul. The consignment was seized, and the Narcotics Control Bureau was informed.An NCB team reached the spot around 2.30pm along with two arrested men — Jammu residents Ramesh Lal and Zahid Mohammad — based on whose disclosures the seizure was made.After completion of all formalities in the presence of senior officers — including DIG BSF Chatarpal Singh, Asst Commandant BSF 165 Bn Tanzen Sonam, SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh — the NCB team returned to Jammu with the duo.
