CHANDRADRONA: Fifteen-year-old Sreenanda, who went missing from the Chandradrona Hills range near Chikkamagaluru three days ago, was found dead on Friday. Her body was discovered near Manikyadhara Falls on Friday noon. Rescuers initially spotted the girl using a drone camera and rushed to the scene, only to find her deceased. It is suspected that she slipped into the falls in the darkness while trying to find her way out. Superintendent of police Jitendra Kumar Dayama stated that the exact cause of death could be determined based on the post-mortem report. The police have recorded statements from the girl’s parents and relatives who accompanied her.The Class 10 student had become untraceable on Tuesday. District police had launched an extensive search soon after she was reported missing, deploying multiple teams across the rugged terrain. Personnel from the forest department, as well as fire and emergency services, were also involved in the operation. The search, briefly halted due to darkness on Tuesday night, resumed the next day with additional SP Jayakumar joining the efforts.
