Linear shipped a major product reorientation – away from issue tracking and toward what it calls a shared product system with native AI agents. Linear Agent analyzes user feedback and generates projects, issues, and documents in context. A coding agent that writes and fixes code autonomously is coming next, alongside code diffs designed for human-agent review. The usage numbers are striking: coding agents are installed in 75% of Linear’s enterprise workspaces, agent-completed work grew 5x in three months, and agents now author nearly 25% of new issues. Linear is betting that project management tools built for handoff-based workflows won’t survive the shift to agent-driven development. Jira, Notion, and Shortcut are all adding AI features too, but Linear is the first to restructure the entire product around the assumption that agents are permanent teammates.
