MoonPay launched MoonPay Agents, a non-custodial layer that gives AI agents access to wallets and the ability to execute trades, swaps, and transfers autonomously via CLI. Users fund wallets through traditional methods – Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal, bank transfers – and agents handle the crypto side from there, including cross-chain swaps and recurring purchases. The product also supports x402 machine-to-machine payments. MoonPay already serves close to 500 companies, and this feels like a bet that agent-driven transaction volume will eventually dwarf human-initiated flows. Several crypto infrastructure players – Coinbase among them – have been circling the same thesis, but MoonPay is moving early on the non-custodial angle specifically designed for programmatic access.
