Lucknow: Socio-cultural organisation, Dastak, has said it will establish ‘Nature Clubs’ in 55 degree colleges across the city to involve students’ participation in environmental awareness and green initiatives. The aim is to create a platform for the youth to engage with issues such as climate change, environmental degradation and sustainable living. The clubs will host seminars, workshops, street plays, short films, exhibitions, debates, quizzes, poster-making competitions, skits and collage-making sessions. Camping and other adventure-based learning activities will also be included.Dastak founder, Veena Rana, said, “The clubs would function under experienced mentors and college faculty so that students gain both academic understanding and practical exposure.”The initiative comes at a time when students are increasingly using photography, paintings, poetry, films and social media reels to express concern over environmental issues.Co-founder Sangita Jaiswal said young people are deeply aware of environmental challenges and the initiative would help channel their energy into meaningful action. The outreach is expected to build stronger youth participation in sustainability and public awareness campaigns across the city in the coming months.
