Google upgraded NotebookLM’s video overviews from narrated slideshows to fully animated cinematic videos, powered by Gemini 3 as a creative director with Veo 3 handling the visual generation. The system makes hundreds of structural and stylistic decisions per video – narrative arc, visual style, scene transitions – all derived from whatever sources you’ve uploaded. It’s only available to Google AI Ultra subscribers for now, English only. NotebookLM started with audio overviews, added video slides last July, and now generates actual animated scenes. Google keeps layering output modalities onto what began as a research notebook, gradually turning it into something closer to a full content production pipeline. The progression from text summaries to podcast-style audio to cinematic video has been remarkably fast.
