Perplexity launched Computer, an autonomous agent that routes work across 19 different AI models to deliver complete projects from a single prompt. It picks Gemini for deep research, Grok for quick lookups, Veo for video – whatever fits the subtask – and runs on its own for hours. The pitch is orchestration as the product layer, not any individual model. Available only to Max subscribers for now, Computer lands while Perplexity faces unresolved copyright suits that could limit how aggressively it pulls from the open web. Every major AI company is racing to ship agents, but Perplexity’s version leans harder on multi-provider routing than most, which only works if model access stays cheap and open.
