Perplexity Pitches Computer as a Full AI OS

Perplexity published its vision document for Computer, the agent layer it now positions as the core of everything the company ships. The framing is blunt – when you combine accurate search, 20 orchestrated frontier models, and agentic web access, the AI itself becomes the operating system. Alongside the philosophy comes Personal Computer, a Mac mini-based always-on agent tied to your local apps and Perplexity’s cloud, plus enterprise connectors for Snowflake and Salesforce, and an expanded finance toolkit pulling from SEC filings, FactSet, and S&P Global. The “AI as OS” pitch has been made before by others, but Perplexity is one of the first to ship dedicated hardware infrastructure to back it up. It reads less like a product update and more like a company redefining what it wants to be.
