Lucknow: Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Rae Bareli, has achieved its highest-ever annual production by manufacturing 2,126 railway coaches during the financial year 2025–26.The output represents a nearly 5% increase from last year, when the factory produced 2,025 coaches. Coach factory’s key achievement during the year was the completion of its first Vande Bharat trainset. One rake is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be handed over shortly to the concerned zonal railway for commercial operation. The coaches manufactured during the year included a wide range of variants such as Vande Bharat, MEMU, Deen Dayalu, sleeper, AC and non-AC chair cars, Tejas coaches, 3-tier economy coaches, power cars, parcel vans, coaches for Divyangjan and other specialised rolling stock. The factory also recorded its highest-ever production of components, including 2,168 coach set bogies, 2,205 coach shell assemblies and 2,182 wheel sets. In the forged wheel segment, the factory produced 62,938 wheels, significantly exceeding its target and registering major year-on-year growth in both forged and finished wheels. General manager Vivek Khare credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the workforce.
