Lucknow: The railway officer who was accused of bribery by a retired travelling ticket examiner dismissed allegations against him as “unfounded and driven by personal vendetta”.The retired TTE alleged that he applied for renewal of permission to operate an automatic ticket vending machine (ATVM) at Varanasi Junction, for which the officer demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe. The officer clarified that the responsibility for operating ATVMs did not currently lie with him. He said that in Aug 2025, he formally recommended the termination of ATVM operations allotted to the former TTE due to misconduct, following which competent authorities removed him.He said that the CBI probe into the TTE’s complaint established that he did not receive any money. The officer maintained that his conduct remained transparent and within rules. He added that official records at divisional office and Varanasi station levels substantiate his claims.
