Lucknow: Sarojini Nagar marked a significant step towards sustainable development with the launch of the ‘Net Zero Industry’ initiative under “The Green Shift” programme, in the presence of UP finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.The initiative, led by MLA Rajeshwar Singh, aims to accelerate the region’s transition towards its long-term #NetZeroSarojiniNagar2047 vision. It represents the fourth and a crucial pillar of a comprehensive roadmap designed to achieve net zero emissions through a structured and time-bound approach.The broader roadmap includes five key components: Net Zero Schools and Colleges, Net Zero Societies and RWAs, Net Zero Townships, Net Zero Industry, and Net Zero Villages and Sarovars. With the launch of the industrial component, the initiative now moves from awareness to active implementation on the ground.Officials said the programme focuses on encouraging industries to adopt sustainable practices, reduce carbon emissions, and integrate green technologies into their operations. To promote participation, the “Green Shift Industrial Excellence Award” will be presented on World Environment Day (June 5), carrying a cash prize of ₹5 lakh for the best-performing enterprise.
