Lucknow: A 50-year-old station house officer of Akhandnagar police station in Sultanpur district sustained a gunshot injury under suspicious circumstances at his govt residence within the police station premises on Sunday evening.The injured officer, identified as Arun Kumar Dwivedi, suffered a bullet injury below his right shoulder. Despite being injured, Dwivedi reportedly managed to step out of his residence, where on-duty personnel noticed him and immediately informed senior officers. He was initially taken to a nearby facility in Sultanpur but was later shifted to Lucknow for advanced medical treatment. Superintendent of police, Sultanpur, Charu Nigam, reached the police station soon after receiving information and inspected the scene. During the inspection, police recovered his licensed revolver from the room along with visible bloodstains. Officials said the circumstances under which the firearm was discharged are yet to be ascertained. A forensic team has been called to examine the scene, and the weapon has been seized for detailed analysis. Police are also recording statements of personnel present at the station at the time of the incident.
