Lucknow: Residents of Babu Banarasi Das ward in Udaiganj are facing inconvenience as sewer line work has remained stalled for nearly 15 days, leaving roads dug up, restricting access and creating sanitation concerns.Locals said the damaged stretches have made daily commuting difficult, forcing many to take longer alternative routes. They added that the situation can be risky during medical emergencies when vehicles cannot reach houses directly.Ramesh Gupta, a resident, said, “The road outside our lane has been dug up for days. We now have to take longer routes even for routine commuting.”Residents also pointed to sanitation problems caused by open pits, sewer water and stagnant water in the area.Shabnam Ali, another resident, said, “There is a constant foul smell due to clogged drains by mud dug for sewer line work. Authorities should at least ensure temporary arrangements until the work restarts.”Commuters said they are being forced to depend on alternate modes of transport due to poor road conditions.LMC officials said they have notified the contractor to speed up the work and finish on time. “For any delay, we will penalise the agency,” they said.
