Lucknow: Taking note of increasing incidents of deaths due to drowning in rivers, canals, and reservoirs, state govt has approved a proposal to procure 90 rubberised inflatable boats and 90 motors to strengthen rescue operations by UP Police.According to an official govt order issued by the Home (Police) department, administrative and financial sanctions amounting to Rs 4.27 crore has been granted for the procurement. Officials said that the procurement aims to enhance the operational capacity of the police and disaster response units for timely rescue and emergency interventions. While Rs 2.02 crore has been sanctioned for 90 rubberised inflatable rescue boats (4.5-metre capacity), Rs 2.24 crore has been earmarked for 90 four-stroke, 30-horsepower motors. Govt has mandated that the entire sanctioned amount be utilised within the current financial year 2025–26.
