Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be the chief guest at the workshop to mark the International Day of Forests on Saturday (March 21).The workshop to be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan is being organised by Uttar Pradesh Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA). The minister of state for environment, forest and climate change (independent charge) Arun Kumar Saxena will be the special guest. Technical sessions, centred on the theme ‘Forests and Economies,’ will discuss outstanding work and innovative efforts being undertaken in the field of forestry in various regions of the country, modernisation and digitisation of forest management, measures to control human-wildlife conflict in areas adjacent to forest areas, and the effective utilisation of CAMPA funds for afforestation and wildlife conservation. “To encourage forest-based industries, our govt has simplified the rules, strengthened the law and order, provided a fear-free environment to the entrepreneurs and ensured the availability of raw material to the forest-based industries,” said the forest minister, adding that, as a result, more than 2,467 forest-based industries have been established in the state in the last 9 years. In the last 9 years, more than 243 crore saplings have been planted with extensive public participation and inter-departmental coordination, he added.
