Lucknow: A 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following an altercation over Holi greetings in Begaria village under the Dubagga police station area on Wednesday evening.The victim sustained multiple stab wounds during the altercation and was rushed to the trauma centre, where doctors declared him dead.
“Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 115(2), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 3(2)(V) of the SC/ST Act,” read a police statement. Three accused were nabbed from the Hardoi Road Baznagar underpass area, and the knife used in the murder was also recovered, police said. In another incident in the PGI police station area, a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly opening fire at a youth due to an old rivalry. Police said the accused allegedly fired at the victim on March 4 in Telibagh after an argument, during which the latter sustained a gunshot injury to the abdomen. Acting on a tip-off, police later arrested the accused and recovered an illegal .32 bore country-made pistol and an empty cartridge from him. Meanwhile, a man identified as Sonu was critically injured after a neighbour allegedly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon following a minor argument during Holika Dahan in Jankipuram. Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to the trauma centre with serious neck and head injuries. Police said the accused fled the scene. Separately, in preventive action ahead of Holi, PGI police arrested four youths for allegedly creating a ruckus and disturbing public order at different locations in the area.
