Lucknow: In compliance with the directions of the high court for comprehensive and long-term improvement of traffic management on the Ayodhya Road, Lucknow Traffic Police has completed detailed field survey of the Polytechnic–Chinhat stretch and adjoining roads, identifying 153 locations in need of traffic, road-safety and infrastructure-related interventions.A joint inspection of the identified locations was conducted on Saturday by traffic police officers and various civic and infrastructure departments to assess the feasibility, technical requirements and priority of the proposed measures.Traffic police team conducted a detailed physical and site-wise survey of the area for nearly a week, examining traffic movement, available and effective road width, condition of roads and service lanes, major intersections and junctions, cuts and U-turns, entry and exit points, parking arrangements, pedestrian movement and road-safety concerns.The exercise covered 10 roads or stretches, including both directions between Polytechnic and Chinhat, the Chinhat–Kathauta route, Kamta–Awadh Bus Stand area, Kamta–Vijaypur service road and Vijaypur Underpass–IGP Chauraha, besides other connecting roads.Officials said each of the 153 locations has been documented separately, with its present condition, impact on traffic flow and proposed corrective measures recorded.The DCP Traffic, Raveena Tyagi, who is also chairman of the committee constituted for the exercise, invited officials of the concerned departments for a joint field inspection on Aug 8.Officials present during the inspection included ACP, Vibhuti Khand, along with representatives of the Lucknow Development Authority, Lucknow Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department and the Regional Transport Office.During the joint inspection, traffic police officials presented the 153 identified points and proposed works to representatives of the respective departments. The sites were examined on the ground to assess their practicality, technical requirements and likely impact on traffic movement and road safety.Technical suggestions provided by the participating departments were also discussed to ensure that the proposed measures can be implemented through coordinated action.DCP Traffic Tyagi said the exercise was being conducted in accordance with the High Court’s directions and that traffic police undertook a detailed site-wise assessment of the Polytechnic–Chinhat section as the first phase of the broader improvement plan.“Ten routes or stretches were surveyed and 153 points were identified. Each point has been geo-referenced with latitude and longitude, and the required work has been separately documented. These points were jointly examined with officials of the concerned departments today. Based on technical suggestions and inter-departmental coordination, the works will be prioritised and taken forward,” the DCP said.The officer said the objective was to make traffic movement on the Ayodhya Road more orderly, smooth and safe in the long term.
