Lucknow: Police have registered an FIR against two persons for allegedly duping a charitable trust of ₹5.67 crore by selling 14 plots of land that were already encumbered and previously sold to another buyer.The case was registered at Chowk police station on the directions of deputy commissioner of police (west) Kamlesh Dixit following a complaint by Mohammad Iqbal, trustee of the Career Convent Educational and Charitable Trust.According to the complaint, Iqbal was looking to buy land for establishing a school and college. The accused, identified as Bhola Nath Shukla and Vinay Kumar Shukla, introduced themselves as directors of Tripurari Shelters Pvt. Ltd. and sold 14 plots located in Mahona under Bakshi ka Talab for ₹5.67 crore. The plots were also registered in the trust’s name.The alleged fraud came to light on May 1 when construction of the proposed educational institution began. A bank official reportedly visited the site and informed the trust that the land had been mortgaged to secure a bank loan and could be taken over due to non-payment of dues.The complainant further alleged that he was informed the land had already been sold to one Mohit Sethi in 1985. He also accused the sellers of threatening him when he objected to the transaction.Inspector Nagesh Upadhyay of Chowk police station said a preliminary inquiry found substance in the allegations, following which an FIR was registered against the accused. The investigation is being conducted by sub-inspector Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
