Lucknow: Two men were killed after a speeding pickup truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle on the Maskanwa-Babhanan road in Gonda district on Sunday morning.The deceased were identified as Ranjit, 39, and Gangadhar Rao, 42, both residents of Chuwad village.The accident took place near Deennagar village under the Chhapia police station area.According to police, the two men were returning home from Maskanwa when a pickup truck approaching from the opposite direction allegedly lost control and crashed into their motorcycle, killing both of them on the spot.The pickup driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene after the accident.Police reached the spot after being alerted and rushed the victims to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Chhapia, where doctors declared them dead.Police said the bodies were sent for postmortem examination. The pickup truck has been seized and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
