Lucknow: A 55-year-old man wanted in a 1991 theft case in Lucknow was arrested from Hardoi on Wednesday, ending a nearly 20-year chase by police.Wazirganj police arrested Narendra from his residence in Kavathakiya locality during a pre-dawn raid around 5am while executing a long-pending non-bailable warrant issued by a Lucknow court.SHO RK Tripathi said Narendra was wanted in a theft case registered at Wazirganj police station under IPC sections 379 and 411. He had remained absent from court proceedings for years, leading to the issuance of a non-bailable warrant. Proceedings under CrPC sections 82 and 83, including proclamation and property attachment, had also been initiated against him.Police said Narendra repeatedly evaded arrest by frequently changing hideouts and avoiding regular movement patterns. Acting on local intelligence and surveillance inputs, officers tracked his movements and zeroed in on his residence.During questioning, Narendra allegedly admitted he knew about the warrant and deliberately stayed away from home during the day, returning only after dark to avoid detection.Police produced him before a court and initiated further legal action.
