Lucknow: Lucknow Police issued 1,359 challans and seized 41 vehicles during a six-day late-night enforcement drive aimed at curbing traffic violations and improving road safety across the city, officials said on Saturday.The campaign was conducted from July 26 to July 31 between 9.30 pm and midnight on the directions of police commissioner Tarun Gauba and under the supervision of joint commissioner of police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar.Police carried out checks against a range of traffic violations, including drunk driving, overspeeding, wrong-side driving, use of illegal hooters, black films on vehicle windows, unauthorised vehicle modifications, and driving without valid documents or number plates.“The drive was aimed at ensuring strict compliance with traffic rules and creating safer roads for citizens,” said JCP (L&O) Babloo Kumar.Checkpoints were set up at major intersections, commercial hubs and other busy public locations. Key enforcement points included Kaiserbagh, Hussainganj, Nakhas, Atal Chowk, Telibagh Chauraha, 1090 Chauraha, IT Chauraha, Nishatganj Crossing and Awadh Chauraha, among others.During the drive, vehicle owners were advised against driving under the influence of alcohol, using mobile phones while driving, installing illegal hooters or black films, and making unauthorised alterations to vehicles.
