Lucknow: The UP govt will engage 50,000 self-help groups (SHGs) under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) to manufacture around two crore national flags for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ahead of Independence Day on Aug 15.The initiative is expected to provide additional livelihood opportunities to rural women while boosting the campaign to ensure that the national flag reaches every household across the state.Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the exercise goes beyond the production of tricolours. “It is a significant initiative for women’s empowerment, local employment generation and strengthening the rural economy,” he said. Maurya said thousands of rural women would gain opportunities for dignified income while participating in a nationwide effort linked to nation-building.The state govt has directed all districts to maximise the participation of SHGs and meet assigned targets within the stipulated timeframe. It aims to turn the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign into a mass public movement while ensuring that the national flag reaches every home with due respect.UPSRLM mission director Arun Kumar has instructed district magistrates, chief development officers and district mission management units to ensure timely production of flags and adherence to quality standards. District-wise targets have also been assigned. Officials have been asked to regularly review production, quality, supply and payment processes to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign. The flags produced across all 75 districts will be supplied to govt departments, institutions, local bodies and gram panchayats, which will facilitate their distribution to households during the campaign. Officials said all flags would be manufactured in accordance with standards prescribed under the Flag Code of India.
