Lucknow: A six-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death with kicks, punches and a metal cooking ladle allegedly by his mother’s paramour, who saw the child as an obstacle to his private moments with the woman, police said.The woman left the body of the boy at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Science on July 4 and came back a day after.While the woman claimed that her son died after he slipped in the bathroom, multiple injuries on the boy’s body made police suspicious. A probe revealed the entire sequence of events.The victim’s father, a resident of Unnao, lodged a complaint on July 5, naming his wife and her paramour. Based on the complaint, police registered a murder case.Police arrested the 26-year-old accused on Monday and claimed to have recovered the metal ladle allegedly used in the assault.According to SHO, Madiaon, Shivanand Mishra, the woman met the accused on Instagram and later developed a relationship. The man would frequently visit the house in Lucknow when her husband was away for work.“During interrogation, the accused said that he and her lover wanted privacy and the child often interrupted them,” the SHO said.Police said the man had been staying at the house for about five days before the incident. “During that period, he allegedly assaulted the child repeatedly. On the day of the incident, the assault allegedly turned fatal when the boy was beaten with kicks, punches and a metal cooking ladle,” said Mishra.
