BUDAUN: Seven students of Jayaprakash Narayan Sarvodaya Residential Girls’ School in the Samrer block of Badaun district fell ill after consuming a meal at the school, officials said on Sunday.According to police, the students were admitted to the Samrer Community Health Centre (CHC) at around 12.30 am on Saturday, according to news agency PTI.After receiving primary treatment, the families of five students took them home and said they would continue treatment at a private hospital.Medical Officer at CHC Samrer Likima Ram said, “prima facie, it appears the students fell ill due to the heat.” He added that food samples would be collected and examined, and the investigation would determine whether the meal was linked to the incident.Rajendra Prasad, the principal of the residential school, said three students had fallen ill due to the heat.District Magistrate (DM) Avnish Kumar Rai said a committee comprising the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Tehsildar has been constituted to investigate the matter. He added that the enquiry report is expected by Sunday evening.Some students were referred from the CHC to the District Hospital and later shifted to the Government Medical College. Officials said the condition of the two students undergoing treatment is stable.The DM said an investigation into the entire incident is underway and assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
