Registered construction workers in Gujarat can avail financial assistance of Rs 1.6 lakh under the Shree Nanaji Deshmukh Awas Yojana for EWS and LIG houses allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Chief Minister Awas Yojana (CMAY).Implemented by the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (GBOCWWB), the scheme is available once per family and is subject to prescribed eligibility conditions.The scheme is aimed at registered construction workers who have been allotted houses in urban areas by local self-government organisations, urban development authorities or the Gujarat Housing Board under PMAY or CMAY. Eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance of ₹1.6 lakh to support home ownership.To qualify, applicants must have been registered with the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board for at least two years. Applications can only be submitted after one year from the date of house allotment.Another key condition is that neither the registered worker, their spouse nor any member of their family should own any land, property or building. Where a house has been jointly allotted to a husband and wife, the benefit can be availed if either spouse is a registered construction worker with the board. The assistance is available only once per family.How to applyThe application process begins with obtaining an e-Nirman Card through the GBOCWWB’s e-Nirman portal. Applicants must register by submitting documents such as Aadhaar, ration card, proof of age, employer certificate, bank account details and other prescribed documents.After obtaining the e-Nirman Card, eligible workers can apply for the scheme through the Gujarat government’s Sanman portal. The application requires documents including the e-Nirman Card, house allotment letter, proof of instalment payment, Aadhaar, residence proof, beneficiary identity card, passport-sized photograph, affidavit and other supporting documents.Applications are verified at the district and state levels before competent authorities approve them. Once approved, the financial assistance is processed by the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board.
