Lucknow: UP has made major allocations for infrastructure and industrial development in the supplementary budget that has been introduced to accelerate economic growth of the state. With a focus on expanding the state’s expressway network and attracting investments, money was earmarked to take forward five crucial expressway projects that have to be given shape ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.The budget provides Rs 6,500 crore for land acquisition for the proposed Vindhya expressway, which will extend connectivity from Prayagraj to Sonbhadra, and Rs 5,700 crore for land acquisition for the extension of the Ganga expressway from Meerut to Haridwar. Other key allocations include Rs 250 crore for a greenfield expressway linking Jewar airport with the Ganga expressway and Rs 400 crore for Farrukhabad link expressway.Govt has also earmarked Rs 2,300 crore for land acquisition for the Purvanchal link spur project and Rs 100 crore for the Chilla regulator (Delhi-Noida elevated flyover).To boost industrial expansion, Rs 3,000 crore has been allocated under the CM industrial area expansion and new industrial area promotion schemes. The budget also provides Rs 1,500 crore for the Atal industrial infrastructure mission and Rs 1,303 crore under the FDI and Fortune 500 companies investment promotion policy.In addition, allocations have been made for setting up a permanent office for UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority, IT Sadan and State Data Centre, among others.
