Lucknow: The departments of maternal & reproductive health and neonatology at SGPGIMS organised a continuing medical education programme on breastfeeding awareness on Saturday, marking the culmination of World Breastfeeding Week.Director Padmashri Prof R K Dhiman inaugurated the programme. A key highlight was an exhibition of 48 posters prepared by nursing students and officers on breastfeeding promotion and newborn care. A skit by nursing students highlighted the importance of early initiation and continued breastfeeding.Senior residents conducted sessions on breastfeeding during pregnancy, breastfeeding after operative delivery, early initiation, neonatal feeding reflexes and management of common breastfeeding challenges. A rapid-fire session was also held to reinforce key messages.The programme was attended by faculty, residents, nursing officers, students and mothers visiting the hospital. Prof Mandakini Pradhan, head of MRH, and Prof Kirti Naranje, head of neonatology, were among those present.
