NEW DELHI: Firing was reported at a function attended by former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, who was accompanied by J&K Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary, according to Jammu and Kashmir Police. Officials said a gunman opened fire on Abdullah’s vehicle in Jammu as he was returning from the marriage function.Both the JKNC chief and the deputy CM escaped unhurt according to the officials. The accused was overpowered by security personnel and later arrested. Police, quoted by PTI, said the suspect is currently being interrogated and further investigation is under way. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.(More details awaited)
