Lucknow: The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) will host its vibrant two-day ‘Bougainvillea Festival 2026′ at the Central Lawn of Botanic Garden on Saturday. The event aims to promote ornamental horticulture, biodiversity conservation, and urban gardening. N K S Chauhan, officer on special duty in the chief minister’s office, will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the festival with a ceremony at 12pm.NBRI director Dr D K Awasthi said the festival preserves bougainvillea’s genetic diversity while equipping growers with low-maintenance landscaping tips suited to local climate. “Bougainvillea thrives here; this event inspires home gardening,” he said. The event will conclude on Mar 15 with prize distribution and closing ceremony at 4:30pm. UP Governor Anandiben Patel will attend as chief guest to felicitate winners in categories like best display, innovative hybrid and largest collection. Entry is free, with timings from 9am to 6pm.
