Lucknow: Come Navratri, and Baghpat will witness a unique celebration of daughters and women’s empowerment. For the govt has initiated the ‘Nanhi Kali’ programme that will feature six-time boxing world champion Mary Kom, who will felicitate young girls and inspire them to pursue their dreams.As part of the initiative, ‘Nanhi Kali’ dolls are made by rural women from recycled plastic. This doll has become a symbol of environmental awareness, cultural values, and women’s empowerment.According to DM Baghpat Asmita Lal, these dolls, made with fine fibre from discarded plastic bottles, address plastic waste and embody the concept of ‘wealth from waste’.Navratri is being observed as a celebration of women’s strength, and the ‘Nanhi Kali’ initiative directly aligns with the goal of honouring and empowering daughters.
