Lucknow: After the approval of Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Scheme by the cabinet last week, UPSRTC has started working on the plan to boost bus connectivity in rural areas.The corporation will complete advertising for the scheme by the end of this month and call for applications from private operators to operate the buses. Application screening may be completed by mid-April.The objective of the scheme is to operate at least two buses from every district headquarters to villages in the district. “There is no cap on maximum buses operating from district headquarters under the scheme,” an official said.The buses will be smaller, with a maximum length of seven metres and a seating capacity of 28 passengers.They will halt in the villages at night, while in the morning, they will travel via block and tehsil to reach district headquarters by 10am.The fares will be decided by a committee headed by the district magistrate at the local level.
