A video has emerged of Iran’s missile strike on an oil refinery in the Israeli port city of Haifa, as the Middle East war entered its 21st day on Friday. The video shows bright flashes—explosions—followed by thick plumes of smoke billowing into the air.According to the Jerusalem Post, the Bazan oil refinery in Haifa was damaged by fallen shrapnel after several consecutive missile barrages from Iran. The refinery is among Israel’s largest energy installations and a key hub for fuel and chemical production in the Haifa Bay area.Emergency units from Magen David Adom were dispatched to the site. No injuries were reported, and a spokesperson for the Environmental Protection Ministry said there was no leakage of hazardous materials.“The damage to the electricity grid in the north is localised and not significant. Teams from the Israel Electric Corporation are already on the ground and have restored power to most affected areas. Electricity will be reinstated in the remaining areas shortly. The barrage in the north also did not cause any major damage to infrastructure in Israel,” energy minister Eli Cohen told reporters.Tehran’s attack followed Israel’s strike on the Islamic Republic’s South Pars gas field on Wednesday night, marking a major escalation in the conflict. Iran retaliated by targeting Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, causing extensive damage, according to the Gulf state’s Ministry of Defence. The current Middle East conflict began with joint US-Israel strikes across Iran on February 28. Tehran has retaliated by targeting both Israel and Gulf states hosting US military bases, and by effectively disrupting traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil supply route.
