Lucknow: Strengthening the urban services, state govt approved a budget of Rs 2,916 crore to improve the civic amenities in key towns across over a period of five years.As the first step, the amount has been earmarked to upgrade the headquarters of the urban local bodies in 58 districts. The remaining 17 districts are already being managed by municipal corporations. With this, residents staying in cities like Barabanki, Sitapur, Hapur, Balrampur, Hathras, Budaun, Fatehgarh, Basti, Deoria, Lalitpur, Sambhal, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat among others, could look forward to upgraded and improved offices and infrastructure. The funds would be utilised to provide citizen-centric services and offer digital services to locals from the nagar palika and nagar panchayat buildings. Moreover, the basic facilities that are required at govt offices would be either spruced up or provided through the budget. The urban development department would be given Rs 583.20 crore every year to cover the additional expenses of the 58 buildings. In Gautam Budh Nagar district, the Dadri nagar palika building is going to be upgraded. Industrial authorities are already providing civic amenities to residents of Noida and Greater Noida.
