Lucknow: Lucknow Police on Sunday claimed to have successfully solved two daring robbery cases within 48 hours using the newly introduced ‘Yaksh App’.The twin robberies occurred on March 19 in the Kakori police station area within a span of less than an hour. In the first case, complainant Sumit Tiwari reported that four unidentified assailants assaulted him near Roshan Lawn on Hardoi Road and looted his motorcycle and mobile phone. Soon after, another victim, Manoj, was robbed of his motorcycle and wallet near Maunda petrol pump.Police registered two FIRs under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and formed four teams, including surveillance units, to crack the case. CCTV footage from both locations was analysed extensively, and suspect images were extracted for identification. The breakthrough came when these images were processed through the Yaksh app, a digital platform containing verified criminal records and profiles. The system identified Ajay Rajput (22), a resident of Kakori, as a suspect. His mobile number was retrieved through the app, and location analysis confirmed his presence at both crime scenes at the time of the incidents.Based on technical surveillance and inputs from informers, police arrested Ajay along with his associate Deepanshu alias Lucky Rajput (19) during a late-night checking operation near Narauna canal turn at around 2:10 am on March 22.During interrogation, both accused confessed to committing the robberies along with two other accomplices who remain absconding. Police also seized one looted motorcycle, two stolen mobile phones, Rs 590 in cash, and another motorcycle used in the crime, said DCP West Zone Vishwajeet Srivastava.
