Lucknow: A theft was reported from a locked house in Kakori where miscreants decamped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs while the family was away on a religious trip. Rajpal Yadav, a software engineer working with a private firm, told police that he had left for Maihar in Madhya Pradesh with his family on Friday. The house was locked for three days. “When we returned on Sunday night, we found the main door locks broken and the entire house ransacked,” Yadav said in his complaint.Police said the burglars broke open almirahs and boxes, selectively stealing valuables. Approximately ₹30,000 in cash and jewellery worth nearly ₹10 lakh—including chains, earrings, anklets and other ornaments—were reported missing. Clothes were found scattered across rooms, indicating a thorough search by the thieves.On receiving information, Kakori police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.Police said CCTV footage from nearby houses and routes is being scanned to identify suspects. Efforts are underway to trace those involved in the incident.
