Lucknow: The Lucknow district administration has intensified preparations for Census 2027, with a focus on ensuring wide participation in the upcoming self-enumeration phase scheduled from May 7 to May 21. A review meeting chaired by district magistrate Vishakh G outlined a multi-pronged strategy involving govt departments, local bodies, educational institutions, and civil society to streamline the exercise. “The self-enumeration phase aims to encourage citizens to submit their own data through a digital platform, making the process more efficient and participatory,” said the DM. The administration has directed all departments to ensure mandatory participation of employees, with nodal officers appointed to supervise the process. Training programmes will be conducted for councillors across 110 municipal wards to help them guide residents on using the self-enumeration portal and app. Awareness campaigns will be rolled out in schools, colleges, and universities to engage students and families. Special outreach drives are also planned in residential areas, including govt colonies and housing societies, where teams will assist residents at their doorstep. Public messaging will be amplified through LED screens, traffic systems, marketplaces, and cinema halls, while prominent citizens and professional groups will be mobilised to promote participation. Officials said daily monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to ensure training quality and timely execution. The administration has emphasised transparency and coordination to ensure smooth implementation of the census exercise.
