SALEM: TVK candidate K Sivakumar secured 4,034 votes in Salem North after the first round of counting, ahead of DMK’s R Rajendran by 431 votes. Rajendran, who is the tourism minister, secured 3,603.PMK stood in third place with 2,178 votes, while NTK polled 374 votes. The early trend pointed to a surprise start in the constituency, with the TVK gaining an initial edge over the DMK.
