NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old law student was arrested on Sunday for allegedly ramming his SUV into a police motorcycle and running over a constable and a civil volunteer in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, leaving both injured.The incident occurred near the Outer Ring Road when constable Ashish Sangwan and Police Mitra Sandip Singh were on patrol duty, police said. They attempted to stop a suspicious Mahindra Thar that was being chased by members of the public. As the driver tried to flee, he allegedly rammed the police motorcycle multiple times and ran over both personnel.Both victims were injured and rushed for medical treatment. Police said their condition is now stable.The accused has been identified as Arman Shokeen, a law student and resident of Pitampura. He was overpowered and detained with the help of local residents, police said.According to a senior police officer, Shokeen was being chased by the public after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a parked car in the Swaroop Nagar area shortly before the incident.A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Jahangirpuri police station.. The vehicle has been seized.
